Much of the photograph shows trees in the foreground and in the distance. The photograph is taken from up above and looks down at Catfish Creek, which enters into the Mississippi River. Where it enters, there is a small railroad bridge. The Julien Dubuque Bridge can be partially seen in the top left side of the photo in a small clearing. The Mississippi River is seen to the right of the photograph and a shoreline covered in trees can be seen in the distance.
