Statue of Jeanne-d'arc. Pont-a-Mousson. (St. Mihiel)
Title
Statue of Jeanne-d'arc. Pont-a-Mousson. (St. Mihiel)
Creator
Hoffman, Peter B.
Description
The photographer shows a church that has taken heavy damage from World War I during the St. Mihiel Front in Pont-a-Mousson, France. The title explains that it is a statue of Joan of Arc, who could be the figure at the top of the church. The church's steeple sits at the left of the photograph and is a lighter stone color. It is almost a tower type to the steeple with a round pointed center that has a statue at the very top, which could be Joan of Arc. The rest of the church extends back, towards the middle of the photograph and has much damage to the roof, where some pieces are completely gone. Other parts of the roof have holes in them or pieces of wall taken down. There may be a cemetery next to the church with a few tombstones that are within the ground, with a short wall that extends around them.
