Shelling Walnuts

Edward Hoffmann bends down to the left and behind the small group of men and holds a basket full of walnuts which he is pouring into a bag.. Emil Youngblood is sitting in the middle with a rock in his right hand, and is holding a walnut against a rock with his left hand. To the right is Peter B. Hoffmann sitting down holding a hammer in his right hand and a walnut against a box in his left hand. All three of the men have coats and hats on and are looking intently at the walnuts. They are sitting amongst piles of walnuts on the ground. The ground is also covered in long grass and the group of men are next to a barbed wire fence with tree limbs as fence posts. There are also trees behind the men, along the fence-line.
