St. Joseph (Preston, Iowa)
Title
St. Joseph (Preston, Iowa)
Description
"Father F. Kenny was pastor of Sabula and caring for the Preston Catholics, when Bishop John J. Hennessy appointed him resident pastor of Preston and in charge of the Sabula parish as well. He was the first to celebrate Mass in the area, first in the home of Mike Maher and then others, until they could use a public hall. The church was ready in the fall of 1882. It was probably named for Saint Joseph from the beginning."
