Description

Standing in the center of a small office space, a woman is entering figures into a calculating machine placed on a rolling cart. A lengthy strip of narrow paper extends from the machine toward the floor. Beside her to the right, another woman is seated at a desk comparing information on two pieces of paper. To the left of the machine, a man is seated at a desk and is holding a piece of paper. A third woman is partially visible beside the man's desk and behind the machine. A June, 1912 calendar hangs on the left wall behind the man's desk and a May 1912 calendar hangs high on the rear wall. Numerous boxes, file boxes and ledgers are piled on desks and shelves. A sign on one box, which reads “Lawson-Laughlin Sanitary Steak Shredder,” and decals for “Kitchen Klenzer” pasted onto a lamp shade hanging over the man's desk may indicate that this office is associated with a company active in the food industry. The number “77” has been written on the emulsion side of the negative and is visible in the upper right corner of the picture. The number “1” is written in the upper left corner.
